The most extensive art history museum in the area, the El Paso Museum of Art has a permanent collection of more than 5,000 pieces. Its holdings are particularly strong in the areas of Spanish Viceroyal art from the 1600s to the 1800s, 19th and 20th century American art, contemporary art and works created on paper. Set in downtown El Paso, near Arts Festival Plaza, nearby points of interest include the El Paso Museum of History and the historic Plaza Theatre.
